The purpose of this descriptive research was to described a preliminary model for
demented older adults prevention using by health promotion and community participation.
The purposive sample size were 36 health volunteers, 2 nurses and health care person, and 20
older adults who had been lived in community, Ubon Ratchathani province. The research data
were collected by interviewed and focus group. The contents analysis was used to analyzed
data.
The results revealed that heath promotion model was to set up by the participatory of the
steak holder, the components were the knowledge of health volunteers, nurses and health care
persons and the elderly about dementia prevention and the Thai minimal state examination for
early screening. And using reminiscence group activity for health promotion was to continue
for promoting cognitive function, human relation and stress relaxation.
These results suggested that nurses and health care persons should pay attention about
dementia prevention in the elderly and using by the health promotion model for dementia
prevention especially cognitive early screening and promote memory skills.
